Mullin: Easter’s Call To Service
U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin: Easter’s call to service
By U.S. REP. MARKWAYNE MULLIN
As we prepare to celebrate Easter — the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over sin and death — it is important to keep our eyes focused on fulfilling God’s call to us — to be the light of Christ in the world.
In the midst of one of February 2015’s snowstorms that caused major headaches for drivers stuck on the slick Oklahoma highways, I was reminded that there are many within our communities who answer that call on a daily basis.
On that day, I encountered Lt. Jason Sebo of the Muskogee Salvation Army at a truck stop near Okemah after Jason had been to Shawnee to retrieve a family friend. The friend had recently undergone surgery and Jason was bringing the young man to his home in Muskogee so the Sebo family could help him recover.
Even the snow coming down with the full force of winter would not deter Jason from helping this young man. And, during our brief conversation at the truck stop, I saw someone shining the light of Christ for another in need.
