OKLAHOMA CITY — A bill that calls for the construction of a museum of popular culture in Tulsa failed on Monday to secure Senate approval.
But the author of the measure, Senate Pro Tem Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, indicated he would seek another vote.
It is very unusual for the leader of the Senate to lose a vote on the floor on a bill he is sponsoring.
The measure, Senate Bill 839, calls for a $25 million bond issue to pay for construction of the facility, dubbed OKPOP. Supporters say the museum will showcase various Oklahoma artists, musicians and others.
