yoest.jones.invite

Dear My Pro-Life Friends,

Charmaine Yoest, President & CEO of Americans United for Life Action, will be in Oklahoma April 8 to discuss our strategy for advancing a culture of life in Oklahoma and across the United States. Save this date! You will want to attend this informative and inspirational time with one of the country’s foremost pro-life authorities. The event will be held Monday, April 8 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at the Oklahoma History Center. (For more information or to RSVP, please email Lindsay.bunker@aul.org.)

Oklahoma stands for life and the well-being of young women. On March 12, the Oklahoma House passed AUL model legislation, promoted by AUL Action designed to assist parents and guardians as they engage young girls in the abortion decision. Oklahoma House Bill 1361 sponsored by State Rep. Randy Grau passed 81 to 13, and now heads to the State Senate where State Sen. Greg Treat is carrying the bill.

There is more! On April 8, we are submitting an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States in relationship to the Supreme Court case: Oklahoma Coalition for Reproductive Justice et al., v. Terry Cline, et al. This submission reaffirms our commitment to overturn the temporary injunction against House Bill 1970 “The Abortion-inducing Drugs Safety Act”. This Act, based on model AUL legislation and promoted by AUL Action, requires that abortion providers dispense abortion-inducing drugs only in the ways tested and approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Pro-abortion activists challenged this law in Oklahoma state court. We are steadfast in our belief that women deserved to receive the highest standard healthcare available – including adherence to FDA instructions.

AUL Action is also working this legislative session with Rep. Randy Grau and Sen. Greg Treat to upgrade the state’s parental consent law to further strengthen the rights of parents who have an underage pregnant child. The bill, which has already passed the state house, includes provisions that would establish a clear and convincing evidence standard before a judge can give a waiver to a minor seeking to avoid parental consent, would ensure a minor must go to a judge in her own county rather than anywhere in the state, and that the person giving consent for a minor’s abortion must prove their relationship to the child. These provisions help to ensure parents have the greatest chance possible to help their own child through a difficult situation. The bill is now pending in the senate. Upon enactment, Oklahoma will have one of the strongest parental consent laws in the country.

Oklahoma may well become the most significant front in the battle for life. The abortion industry is determined to use unsafe practices for abortion-inducing drugs to expand its business and failing to adequately protect women and girls. With your support, we can stop them in their tracks. I hope you will join us for our event on April 8th.

Many thanks!
