Pruitt Backs Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Plan

Asset forfeiture reform plan gets state official’s support

Those who want to make it harder for police to seize money and property from suspects before conviction now have a powerful ally, Oklahoma’s chief legal officer, Attorney General Scott Pruitt.

Sen. Kyle Loveless, who has been a staunch backer of asset forfeiture reform, is hoping Pruitt’s support will help him get past the finish line with legislation on this topic in next year’s legislative session.

Loveless, R-Oklahoma City, is in discussions with law enforcement to see if consensus can be reached.

He views Pruitt’s support as key.
