The Last Stand: The Fight of State AGs to Preserve Federalism
The Framers of the Constitution designed a federal republic in which a central government with strictly limited powers was balanced by state governments with plenary powers. The past 100 years have seen an exponential growth in the size and power of the central government. This growth has accelerated under the current administration, imposing massive, uncompensated costs. Many question whether the national government can be brought back within constitutional bounds. Some state attorneys general are fighting back by vigorously contesting the national government’s invasion of state sovereignty. These ongoing legal fights involve energy, the environment, voting and elections, religious liberty, labor relations, and financial transactions. Join us as our panel of state chief law enforcement officials illuminates these issues, moderated by the executive editor of The Weekly Standard.

The Speakers:

The Honorable Scott Pruitt, Attorney General, State of Oklahoma

The Honorable Derek Schmidt, Attorney General, State of Kansas

The Honorable Luther Strange, Attorney General, State of Alabama

The Honorable Alan Wilson, Attorney General, State of South Carolina

Moderated by
Fred Barnes, Executive Editor, The Weekly Standard
