Steve Largent is back in town.

But before the former congressman and University of Tulsa football star settles in after more than a decade away from the community in which he made a name for himself, he’s headed to Glendale, Ariz.

And if you’re familiar with Largent at all, you don’t need to ask why.

The Hall of Fame wide receiver will be a guest of his beloved Seattle Seahawks as they attempt to make it two years in a row as Super Bowl champions. Super Bowl XLIX is set for Sunday, matching the Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

A TU All-American in 1975, Largent was a Seahawk for 14 years. When he retired after the 1989 season, he was — and still is — the most accomplished player in Seahawk history. Largent was the NFL’s career leader in receptions (819), receiving yards (13,089) and touchdown catches (100). He also set a league record for consistency: 177 consecutive regular-season games with at least one reception.
