Teague Tosses Hat In Ring For House District 101 Primary

Capitol Veteran Tess Teague Running for State House District 101

Choctaw Republican Tess Teague has announced her candidacy for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 101.  Term limits prevent the current office holder, Rep. Gary Banz, from seeking re-election.  The district covers much of eastern Oklahoma County, including Midwest City, Choctaw, Nicoma Park, Harrah and Newalla.

“As eastern Oklahoma County continues to grow, it’s important that we fill our House seat with someone who shares our conservative values and offers the forward thinking leadership needed to ensure a brighter tomorrow,” Teague said.  “Every day that I come to the Capitol, I will work hard to represent those values and be an advocate for the people of eastern Oklahoma County.”

Teague comes from an education and military family.

Her mother was an elementary teacher.  Her father is a retired Army officer.  Inspired by their service, Teague learned the values of hard work and patriotism at an early age.

Teague will bring tremendous legislative experience and knowledge to the job.

She manages the Journal Record newspaper’s Legislative Reporting Service at the Oklahoma Capitol.  Managing a staff of four, she oversees coverage of the entire legislative process.

From bill filings and committee work, to floor debates and final votes, Teague has worked with elected officials and covered literally thousands of legislative issues.

Teague has also worked in the office of Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and the Republican National Committee in Washington.

Teague is a woman of faith with a heart for service.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Christian University.  She attends Choctaw Church of Christ and actively supports many Christian ministries at home and abroad.

In 2012, Teague spent her summer in Malawi, Africa, building orphanages and ministering to local villages.  She’s organized fundraising events for clean water wells in Rwanda and spent the summer of 2014 volunteering in a South African refugee center teaching English, Math and Science.

Teague will advance similar initiatives in East OC – working to build mentorship, volunteerism and reading programs through local schools and libraries.

“As state representative, I will advance the principles of limited government and conservative values.  I’ll work to advance the pro-growth policies of lower taxes and common sense regulation to spur our economy,” Teague said.

“I am pro-life, an NRA member and I oppose big government programs like ObamaCare.  I will be a voice for the everyday leaders in our community, like teachers and pastors, veterans, small business owners and stay at home moms, who enrich our community in so many ways,” Teague said.
