On the eve of the three-day filing period, the race to replace District 3 Tulsa County Commissioner Fred Perry has four announced candidates.
Perry announced earlier this year that he is retiring effective July 8 due to health issues. His term expires Dec. 31, 2014.
Two candidates to replace him – Brandon Perkins and Don Crall – have never sought elected office before. Ron Peters, a former state legislator, is a veteran politician, having served 12 years representing state House District 70 before being term-limited in 2012.
The fourth candidate, Ronda Vuillemont-Smith, is the founder of the local chapter of the Tulsa 9.12 Project. She was defeated last year by incumbent state Sen. Mike Mazzei, R-Tulsa, in her attempt to win the District 25 seat.
