Tulsa World: Workman To Challenge Costello, Weston Complaints On Taylor
Political Notebook: State GOP hits Taylor
By Staff Reports on May 19, 2013
Dave Weston, chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party, accused former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor in a news release Thursday of “questionable electioneering.”
He cited a report in the Tulsa World that Taylor mailed absentee ballots to thousands of potential Tulsa voters with information such as birth dates already filled in.
He also criticized her over reports from 2006 that she may have voted twice in the 2000 presidential election.
Weston runs a firm hired by former City Councilor Bill Christiansen to send thousands of automated phone push-polls that accused Taylor of breaking the law in her handling of the city’s 2008 Great Plains Airlines lawsuit settlement. The poll led Taylor to accuse Christiansen and Weston of libel.
Labor candidate: Tulsa political activist Mike Workman announced his candidacy for state labor commissioner at Saturday’s state Democratic Party convention.
