Two Oklahomas?
Very interesting find from Ben Felder, Urban Affairs reporter for the OK Gazette. He compared Census numbers from 2000 to 2013 and his tweet below shows the results. One of the comments on his tweet was from former OK State Senator Andrew Rice, who said: “two Oklahomas: OKC, and the rest of the state.”
We wouldn’t go that far (some in OKC have quite the complex these days) but the Census numbers don’t lie. The growth in OKC has been nothing short of a remarkable renaissance.
Your move, Tulsa!
2000 to 2013 Millennial (20 to 34) growth rates in region – OKC: 21.3%, Austin: 18.3%, Denver: 10.8%, KC: 4.6%, Tulsa: 0%, Dallas: -5.8%
