Wright Announces, Files for Tulsa Commission Seat

John A. Wright, former Oklahoma State Representative, filed Wednesday, April 10th seeking the Republican nomination to proceed to the general election for Tulsa County Commissioner, District 3. The spot opened due to the unexpected resignation of Fred Perry who currently holds the position.

Wright served House District 76 from January 1999 until November 2010. He was twice elected in Republican primaries for the House seat with better than 80% of the Republican primary vote from his district. Wright was also elected to House leadership by his fellow House colleagues to serve as Caucus Chairman in his last two terms.

He served six years as Chairman of the House Administrative Rules Committee under three different House speakers. On two occasions he has served as Chairman of the Oklahoma Republican State Convention.

Former Representative Wright currently serves as a trustee of the Oklahoma Technology Trust Board overseeing funds invested on behalf of improving technology in Oklahoma schools on a grant award basis.

Having achieved advanced assessor accreditation through the OSU County Government Training Program, Wright has worked the past two years for Tulsa County Assessor Ken Yazel. “Though there are several excellent candidates contending for the Republican nomination, I believe my experience causes me to be the best prepared to offer continuity and stability of service through the conclusion of Fred Perry’s unexpired term.”
